Author Dinner Lecture

The Chinese American Council of Sacramento annually puts together an author, a lecture, over a scrumptous Chinese dinner. This is the brainchild of former CACS president Doug Yee. Doug and Karun Yee have been chair of the historical committee for 12 years and thought it would be a good idea to bring to Sacramento an author who could inspire study of Chinese historical culture.

Though the years we have invited well know authors such as Phil Choy, Ruth Ann Lum Mckuen, Eileen Blounder, Judy Jung, Lonnie Ah Tye Farkus, Sylvia Sun Minnick, Madeline Hsu, Susie Ling, Bill Fong and Lisa See. Each individual has been very informative and entertaining in their talk relating to some aspect of Chinese history. Our audiences enjoy a splendid Chinese meal, can ask questions, get to meet the author personally and get a chance to buy an autographed book.

We charge a nominal fee for dinner to help defray the cost of bringing the author here. Our goal is to increase the awareness of Chinese history and how it impacts our daily lives in Sacramento. With this knowledge, we hope to create a better understanding of Chinese culture and traditions. Check our newsletter or website for future announcements of upcoming CACS author lecture dinners.
